Staff of Faith
Community Church
Nick
Cannell - Senior Pastor
A native of Upper Arlington, Nick was raised in the
Catholic Church. During his sophomore year at Ohio
University he gave his life to Jesus Christ and pursed his
dream of becoming a pastor. His passion is "to provide
leadership for the congregation through the relevant
exposition of Scripture, faithfulness in prayer, pastoral
care and through the encouragement of leaders who provide
life-changing ministries to those in our church and
community."
Nick graduated from Ohio University in 1974 with a B.G.S
degree and married his college sweetheart, Debbie, that
same year. He went on to earn a Master of Divinity
degree at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield,
Illinois) in 1977. While living in Illinois, Nick and
Debbie served as Junior High youth leaders at the
Evangelical Free Church of Des Plaines, where Nick also did
his internship. From 1980 – 1982 Nick served on the
elder board at Covenant Baptist Church in Columbus, in
addition to teaching adult Sunday School and serving on the
worship committee. In 1983 Nick and Debbie were members of
the core group that evolved into Faith Community Church.
Debbie earned her BSEd. degree in elementary education at
Ohio University in 1974. In addition to
managing her home she teaches elementary age Sunday school,
manages the church nursery and organizes the meal ministry.
Nick and Debbie are the parents of two children. Their
daughter Christy and her husband Chad are currently
pursuing full time ministry with Campus Crusade for Christ.
Justin, their son, is in sixth grade.
Craig
Stephens - Assistant Pastor
Born in Columbus, Ohio and raised in a Christian home,
Craig’s passion is to teach and encourage others “To be all
we can be in Jesus Christ, to model/walk this out in our
daily lives to our fellow brothers, sisters, and to the
world we are called to reach”.
Craig graduated from Cedarville College in 1977 with a B.A.
in Business Management, and went on to pursue a career in
the private sector while actively serving in local churches
as a counselor, elder and ministry leader. He left a
successful 20-year career as a sales and marketing rep in
the paper industry to become our Assistant Pastor in
2000. In 2001 he received his M.A. in Ministry from
Grace Theological Seminary. Craig also works for
Hilliard City Schools as a substitute teacher. He and his
wife Sandy have been married 23 years.
Sandy received her B.S.ed from Miami University and earned
her Masters in Education and Reading from Ohio State.
She is a full-time teacher in the Gifted Program for
Hilliard City Schools in addition to her involvement in the
children's ministry at Faith.
Craig and Sandy have two children: Amanda, who is a
Junior at Cedarville University and Josh, who is a
Senior at Hilliard Davidson High School.
Mike and
Mandy Nagyhetenyi - Youth Directors
Mike and Mandy joined our staff as Youth Directors in
August 2006. They have been serving together for the past
four years of their marriage in student ministries.
In addition to his experience as a youth director, Mike has
worked as a youth camp leader and has mentored youth in the
area of music ministries. In his last church, Mike served
as worship music leader, using his guitar, bass and vocal
talents. He attended New Jersey Institute of Technology and
Dover Business College.
Mandy received her B.S. Interdisciplinary Studies in Youth
Ministry and Social Science from Nyack College. While
earning her Master of Social Work degree from Rutgers
University, Mandy interned as counselor for at-risk teens
at a county youth shelter.
The Nagyhetenyis describe their vision for youth ministry
at Faith Community as "Seeing students meet and get to know
the Lord Jesus Christ. It's really as simple as that. We
believe the task God had given us is not only to create and
facilitate opportunities for this but more importantly, for
us to live out an authentic relationship with Christ,
struggles and all."
